"Documenting disasters. Informing resilience"
The Extreme Events Impact Studies (EEIS) Network is a research initiative dedicated to documenting, analyzing, and understanding the impacts of major natural hazard events worldwide. Through multidisciplinary post-event assessments, EEIS Network integrates geological, structural, and socio-economic analyses to advance knowledge on disaster mechanisms, performance of the built environment, and pathways to resilience.
The EEIS Network logo is a cohesive visual expression of our global mission to analyze and understand major natural hazards. At its center, a globe overlaid with a compass symbol reflects our worldwide scope and our commitment to navigating complex environmental challenges. Surrounding the globe is an array of icons representing the diverse extreme events we study, connected by subtle lines that symbolize global collaboration, the exchange of scientific knowledge, and interconnected research efforts. Anchoring the design is an open book containing an abstract brain illustration, representing rigorous academic research, intellectual synthesis, and the creation of knowledge to strengthen resilience. The blue and earth-tone palette conveys scientific professionalism and our deep connection to Earth systems.
